Week 2
In this week, we also used an ultrasonic sensor to measure distance.
The ultrasonic sensor uses echolocation to measure the distance between itself and the nearest object directly in front of it (with respect to the direction it sends the sound wave towards).
This is useful for helping people judge distances more accurately.
For example, we can use echolocation to figure out how far we are above the sea bed. By sending an ultrasonic wave down towards the ocean floor and picking it up again after it bounces off the sea bed, the distance between the sensor and the sea bed can be calculated using a formula and factoring in the speed of sound in water.
