Week 3

In this week, we used the Pi to scan for bluetooth signals.

As seen in the video, the Pi was able to detect the phone's bluetooth signal.

Bluetooth is used extensively in our world today. From wireless headphones to transferring files between devices, it is generally able to improve our quality of life.

Other than scanning for all devices within the area, we also scanned the area for a specific device.

In the video, "Mummy" was set to my phone. While my phone's bluetooth was turned on, the program displayed a text saying "Mummy is in." every few seconds, and when it was turned off, it displayed "Mummy is out." instead.

This is useful for indicating if certain devices are within a specific area.

For example, you could use this technology to send notifications/alerts whenever a family member, say your young child, returns home. By doing so, you can be sure that your kid is back home safe and sound even at the office, without having to call or text him/her.
