Introduction
Within the first 9 months of this year alone, it was reported that Singapore has seen a 50% jump in the number of households requiring aid from food distribution programmes. This was owing to the current COVID-19 pandemic situation which made it a lot harder for such volunteer organisations to deliver food to beneficiaries due to things like Circuit Breaker and safe-distancing measures.
So my team and I thought, how can we help to alleviate the difficulties faced by the underprivileged during the pandemic?
Our Solution
Project: U&I. A non-profit website that will enhance and ease the provision of necessities to beneficiaries. Unlike “Food From the Heart”, our project works closely with the local community to help the less privileged.

Sprint 1
For this school project, we were tasked to implement and develop our idea using the Agile methodology. As the scrum master, I drove daily scrums and made sure that there was no friction between team members.
For sprint 1, we assigned ourselves tasks to complete based on our strengths and abilities. Our team composition is quite good, as we have someone with the skills for each major role. This was great as it made the delegating of tasks seamless!
As the Front-End Developer, I worked closely with Cammy to implement the UI of the website, mainly focusing on implementing the Figma designs done by her. I decided to use CodePen as I wanted to easily share my progress on the designs with the team, and CodePen allows me to do just that.
For this sprint, I worked on the Navbar, as well as the Homepage and HomePage when signed in.
Thoughts
Honestly, I feel very grateful for my team. Although we do not hesitate to voice our opinions and concerns, all of us are also very open to communication and making compromises. As the scrum master, this is great as I know that everyone is on the same page, and we are able to spend minimal time on resolving conflicts.
As mentioned before, our team consists of individuals with varying skillsets, so work was done quite efficiently.
The only bad experience I would say I've had with this project so far is the fact that I had to juggle the assignments from other modules at the same time. This meant I could not focus on working on the project everyday, which is something that Agile methodology emphasises on.
But overall, it's been a great experience working with my capable team! Looking forward to the next sprint :D
